Night Break-in

REK’s will break into a vacant property during the night. They will change the locks and leave the property. Then they will return to the property the next morning and enter through the front door to make it look like they started living there.

Property “For Sale”

REK’s will inspect a property during an open house. They will then return, remove the “For Sale” signs, and move in, pretending to be the new owner.

Stranger Rents the Property

REK’s will call on adds for a rental property. The REK’s are not calling to rent the property but are setting up an unexpecting person to pay them to rent the property. The person paying them is now a victim renting the property from someone other than the true owner.

Moving Van

REK’s will park a moving van in front of the target’s property. Having already arranged access to, they will simply pretend to be moving in.

A Case Study

A buyer was successful in purchasing a home. During the contract period, the buyer’s Realtor scheduled a final walk-through of their soon-to-be new home for Wednesday morning.  The buyers and their Realtor were satisfied with the walk through and looked forward on moving in over the weekend.  The escrow closed, as scheduled, the buyer’s Realtor picked up the keys to the property from the listing agent, and went to meet the buyers at the property.
