The origins of our company began over 40 years ago. It was way back then the founder of Registered Vacant Property, William Curry, began his real estate career.  His real estate career reached its highest level when he became president of the San Mateo County Association of Realtors in 2016.   One of Mr. Curry’s early transactions involved a distressed property. In the ensuing 30 year he became an absolute expert on the subject of distressed real estate property.

While there were many inherent problems with the distressed properties an insidious development went unnoticed. Individuals began moving into vacant homes and refusing to leave when confronted by the true owners. As a direct result of laws still currently on the books it takes thousands of dollars for the true owners to recover their formally vacant property.

For many frustrating years there seemed to be no solution. A number of methods were tried. But no matter what was tried, they generally ended with a cash payment by the owner of the property to the person who had “kidnapped” the property, frequently referred to as “Cash for Keys”.

In early 2008 a system was developed, to solve the kidnapping of real estate problem. That success of that system would lead to founding of Registered Vacant Property company in 2017.
